1. Purpose & Scope

Judith Anne Browne, professionally known as Judy Anne Browne, and operating under the trading name Mind Soul Wellness, is committed to providing complementary spiritual and wellbeing services with integrity, compassion, respect, and professionalism.

This Code of Ethics & Professional Conduct outlines the ethical principles, professional standards, and responsibilities that govern all services provided by Judy Anne Browne, including spiritual guidance, intuitive consultation, energy healing, meditation, and other complementary wellbeing modalities.

This Code establishes the professional values by which Judy Anne Browne conducts her practice and reflects a commitment to providing safe, respectful, ethical, and client-centred services that honour the dignity, autonomy, and wellbeing of every client.

For the purposes of this Code, references to Judith Anne Browne, Judy Anne Browne, and Mind Soul Wellness refer collectively to the same practitioner and service provider.

The Code has been developed with regard to applicable Australian legislation and recognised standards governing complementary health services, including:

  • Health Complaints Act 2016 (Vic) and the principles contained within the General Code of Conduct for General Health Services, administered by the Health Complaints Commissioner (Victoria).
  • Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) (Australian Consumer Law).
  • Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (where applicable).
  • Professional indemnity and public liability insurance obligations.

This Code applies to all professional interactions, including in-person consultations, online sessions, workshops, retreats, educational activities, digital communications, and all public representations of services.


2. Core Principles

2.1 Integrity

Act with honesty, transparency, accountability, and ethical intent in all client interactions and professional representations.

Maintain accurate records of services, agreements, and communications.

Clearly communicate the complementary and non-clinical nature of all services.


2.2 Compassion & Respect

Treat every client with dignity, compassion, and respect, recognising the diversity of personal beliefs, cultures, identities, backgrounds, and lived experiences.

Provide services free from discrimination and foster a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental environment.


2.3 Professional Boundaries

Maintain appropriate professional, emotional, physical, and financial boundaries at all times.

Do not exploit the professional relationship for personal, emotional, financial, or sexual advantage.

Sexual or intimate relationships with current clients are strictly prohibited.


2.4 Informed Consent

Ensure clients understand the nature, purpose, scope, limitations, and potential outcomes of services before participation.

Provide opportunities for questions and obtain informed consent before commencing services.

Respect every client’s right to decline or discontinue services at any time without pressure or prejudice.


2.5 Confidentiality

Protect client privacy and personal information in accordance with applicable Australian privacy laws.

Information will only be disclosed with client consent or where disclosure is required by law.


3. Client Care & Professional Practice

3.1 Scope of Practice

Services are offered as complementary spiritual wellbeing services and are not intended to replace medical, psychological, psychiatric, or other regulated healthcare.

Judy Anne Browne does not diagnose illness, prescribe medical treatment, or claim to cure physical or mental health conditions.

Where appropriate, clients will be encouraged to seek advice from suitably qualified registered health practitioners.


3.2 Client Wellbeing

Clients may experience emotional, psychological, or spiritual responses during or following sessions.

Support will be provided respectfully and within the practitioner’s scope of practice, with appropriate referrals where necessary.


3.3 Professional Conduct

Act professionally, respectfully, and within the limits of education, training, and experience.

Avoid conflicts of interest and disclose any relationships that may reasonably influence professional judgement.


4. Privacy, Confidentiality & Record Keeping

Client records will be maintained securely, whether in electronic or physical form.

Reasonable measures will be taken to protect personal information from unauthorised access, misuse, or disclosure.

Records will be retained and disposed of in accordance with applicable legal obligations and good privacy practices.


5. Advertising & Public Representation

All advertising, website content, social media, educational material, and public communications will be truthful, accurate, and compliant with Australian Consumer Law.

No misleading, deceptive, or unsubstantiated claims will be made regarding the effectiveness of services.

Professional qualifications, memberships, experience, and training will be represented accurately.

Services will always be described as complementary and not as a substitute for regulated healthcare.


6. Compliance with Professional Standards

Judy Anne Browne is committed to conducting her practice consistently with the principles contained within the General Code of Conduct for General Health Services under the Health Complaints Act 2016 (Vic).

This includes:

  • providing services safely and ethically;
  • practising only within the limits of education, training, and experience;
  • maintaining appropriate professional boundaries;
  • obtaining informed consent;
  • maintaining client confidentiality;
  • making no false, misleading, or deceptive claims;
  • referring clients where their needs extend beyond the practitioner’s scope of practice; and
  • cooperating respectfully with any enquiry or investigation undertaken by the Health Complaints Commissioner.

Professional indemnity and public liability insurance are maintained to support safe professional practice.


7. Professional Development

Judy Anne Browne is committed to ongoing professional learning, reflective practice, and personal development to continually improve the quality and integrity of services provided.

Professional knowledge, ethical standards, and legal obligations will be reviewed regularly to ensure practice remains current and responsible.


8. Complaints & Grievance Resolution

Client feedback is welcomed and viewed as an opportunity to improve professional practice.

Where concerns arise, every reasonable effort will be made to resolve them respectfully, fairly, and promptly.

I will conduct my practice with honesty, integrity, compassion, professionalism, and respect, recognising the trust placed in me by those who seek my services.

I acknowledge my responsibility to maintain appropriate professional boundaries, respect client autonomy, safeguard confidentiality, practise within the limits of my competence, and conduct my services consistently with applicable Commonwealth and Victorian laws.

This Code will be reviewed periodically to reflect changes in legislation, recognised ethical standards, and best practice within complementary and spiritual wellbeing services.
